Not the kind that shows up at parties — but the kind that arrives when someone sits beside you… or when a familiar song unlocks a memory at just the right moment.
As recently married empty nesters, our lives were supposed to be getting quieter.
Instead, one of us spends his days caring for older adults, as a physician, listening for what’s said, and what isn’t. While the other works in marketing communications and sings, often discovering that a melody can restore a sense of joy words simply can’t.
Again and again, we noticed the same thing:
People weren’t just dealing with life’s challenges. They were living without enough moments of joy.
Schedules were full. To-do lists were checked off. But stories were going unheard.
And yet every time music entered the room, something shifted. A foot tapped. A memory surfaced. A spark of joy returned. A conversation began.
That’s how Medicine & Music, Inc. began.
What started as conversations between friends, and the immediate belief of people like my cousin Rev. Dr. Yvonne, has grown into a community effort faster than we imagined.
We’re building a Circle of Care — where presence matters, stories matter, and joy becomes a bridge to human connection.
We’ll host our first Circle of Care Day in a few months.
If you believe that showing up can create moments of joy,
You’re already part of this story.
Welcome to Medicine & Music.
